Blown off roof,
Tatekawa Series of photographs, 57 x 38 cm

A series of photographs taken from my 6th floor apartment at Tokyo Wonder Site resembling the ‘blown off roof’ (fukinuki yatai) perspective of Japanese scrolls. During a Tokyo Wonder Site residency I traced rhythms of movement in commuting and demonstrating in Tokyo in film-strips and explored the negotiation of personal space in public places.
This includes research into methods of reading and displaying panoramic scrolls in relation to film-strips, part of an ongoing project at the V&A.
